Right after work is prime time for movement, focus, and release. Our After Work Flow Open60 meets you right there with the signature Open class of our Jivamukti Yoga lineage in a compact 60-minute format, designed as a crisp yet strong practice to help you shift gears from the demands of the day. It’s the perfect combination of good workout, spiritual grounding, and a great community in one of the most popular yoga schools of town.

Whether you’re a beginner, deciphering the difference between vṛkṣāsana (tree) and śīrṣāsana (headstand), or an advanced yogi who can put both feet behind their head, the class welcomes you, as it is open to practitioners of all levels. You practice at your own pace, following the teacher’s verbal and hands-on guidance. Āsana options will be provided for beginners, intermediate, and advanced students.

A typical Open class incorporates the five tenets of our Jivamukti Yoga lineage: śāstra (scripture), bhakti (devotion), ahiṁsā (nonviolence), nāda (sound), and dhyāna (meditation), presenting classical yogic teachings as relevant to life on and off the mat. This is supported by chanting, breath awareness, flowing vinyāsa sequences, alignment exploration, hands-on assistance, relaxation, and meditation.

All Open classes in our Jivamukti Yoga lineage include 14 points: āsanas, meditation, and spiritual teachings, in a sequence creatively designed by the teacher. Exuberant, eclectic music plays an integral role: you might practice to a shifting soundtrack of rāgas, global trance, hip-hop, spoken word, George Harrison, Sting, Krishna Das, Donna de Lory, Michael Franti, Bill Laswell, Alice Coltrane, and Mozart.

Open classes are called “Open” because they are open and suitable for all levels of practitioners. However, beginning students should note that there will not be detailed “how to” instructions; for that, students are advised to attend our Foundations, Basic, or Open(M) classes.

What makes the After Work Flow Open60 special is its timing and energy: practiced at the prime workout hour of the day, you get to sweat, stretch, and flow together with a great group of yogis still charged from the day. It’s crisp, powerful, and refreshing, leaving you lighter, calmer, and ready to enjoy your evening.

Über den Trainer/Lehrer

In 2020 Michelle absolved the 300h Jivamukti Teacher Training at the Govardhan eco village in India with Jules Febre & Rima Rabbath as facilitators, mentored by Martyna Eder. She is currently taking the Mentorship with the one and only Rowena Johnson as her mentor. She is very grateful for all the teachings she received and to all the teachers that are guiding her on her path. Michelle loves to play the harmonium & to chant mantra. She has also absolved a Vinyasa Teacher Training in 2018 as well as a Bhakti Training in 2019. She originally discovered Yoga as a counterbalance to her stressful corporate job. When she was introduced to the wonderful Jivamukti method in 2016, she was hooked. Michelle feels drawn to the teachings of compassion for all beings & nature and the focus on veganism, combined with the heart opening experiences of Bhakti. For her, Jivamukti Yoga provides a well-rounded and meaningful yoga experience that goes beyond the physical practice, promoting a conscious and compassionate way of living.
