Take a lunch break that truly resets you. Our Power Lunch Open60 is the signature Open class of our Jivamukti Yoga lineage, taught in a compact 60-minute format right in the middle of the day. It offers the original kind of power yoga experience, developed in New York long before “Power Yoga” even became a thing. This mid-day yoga practice fuels you with fresh energy, focus, and balance, so you return to the rest of your day clear, centered, and renewed.

Whether you’re a beginner, deciphering the difference between vṛkṣāsana (tree) and śīrṣāsana (headstand), or an advanced yogi who can put both feet behind their head, the class welcomes you, as it is open to practitioners of all levels. You practice at your own pace, following the teacher’s verbal and hands-on guidance. Āsana options will be provided for beginners, intermediate, and advanced students.

A typical Open class incorporates the five tenets of our Jivamukti Yoga lineage: śāstra (scripture), bhakti (devotion), ahiṁsā (nonviolence), nāda (sound), and dhyāna (meditation), presenting classical yogic teachings as relevant to life on and off the mat. This is supported by chanting, breath awareness, flowing vinyāsa sequences, alignment exploration, hands-on assistance, relaxation, and meditation.

All Open classes in our Jivamukti Yoga lineage include 14 points: āsanas, meditation, and spiritual teachings, in a sequence creatively designed by the teacher. Exuberant, eclectic music plays an integral role: you might practice to a shifting soundtrack of rāgas, global trance, hip-hop, spoken word, George Harrison, Sting, Krishna Das, Donna de Lory, Michael Franti, Bill Laswell, Alice Coltrane, and Mozart.

Open classes are called “Open” because they are open and suitable for all levels of practitioners. However, beginning students should note that there will not be detailed “how to” instructions; for that, students are advised to attend our Foundations, Basic, or Open(M) classes.

What makes the Power Lunch Open60 special is its intensity and focus: designed as a mid-day reset, this class channels the dynamic strength and transformative energy that our Jivamukti Yoga lineage has been known for since its beginnings in New York. It’s a compact but powerful practice, vigorous, uplifting, and grounding all at once, that clears your mind, recharges your body, and leaves you ready to take on the rest of your day with renewed force and clarity.

Über den Trainer/Lehrer

Rowena has been practicing yoga asana since 2008. What began as physical pursuit, soon developed into a deeper awareness of body, mind and spirit. She became curious about the history and physiology of this practice and decided to explore this curiosity through various workshops, retreats, and the completion of her first 200hr training in India in 2016. Since then she has gone on to teach in the UK, Central and South America, and as a main teacher on a 200hr TTC in India. Rowena believes in the importance of being a student first and foremost, which has led her to study Ashtanga yoga under the guidance of Sharath Jois at KPJAYI in Mysore and Jivamukti under the guidance of David Life, Anja Kuehnel & Rima Rani Rabbath in Costa Rica. She is now pursuing her 800hr certification with her beloved mentor Anjaji. Rowena is grateful to all of the special teachers who have influenced her path, Netta Imber, Corrie Ananda Preece, Cat Alip Douglas & Harmony Slater. Asato mā sadgamaya
